A numbered row is an editorial order, not a paid position. Every business on this page has a counted independent source, so there is no unranked section.

This order uses only the research file. Each business has a source count: how many distinct independent publishers were counted. Best Law Firms and individual Best Lawyers listings count as one publisher. Higher source counts come first. A numbered rank requires a source count of at least 1. Other counted sources, including Expertise.com, change that count and do not add a separate strength step.
When source counts match, recorded recognitions break the tie. Best Law Firms Tier 1 ranks above Tier 2, and more Tier 1 rankings rank above fewer. A larger set of recorded tier rankings ranks above a smaller set when the best tier and the Tier 1 count match. Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers listings are next: a full Super Lawyers selection or a Best Lawyers listing outranks Rising Stars and Ones to Watch, and more names outrank fewer. A Newsweek listing is next, and a higher star mark recorded on that Newsweek listing outranks a lower one. A Vault Law 100 rank is next, with a lower rank number ahead of a higher one.
